Thank you for using Amabie!
Amabie is an online platform for anyone and everyone interested in beauty reviews, beauty products, and beauty tips! Our goal is to provide you with an easy way to access beauty reviews and share your experiences with various beauty products (inclusive of Asian beauty products, such as Japanese beauty and Korean beauty products). You do not need to be a registered User to search or view our beauty reviews, but you must be a registered User in order to post beauty reviews, comment on our beauty forum or engage in any type of communication on our site.
Amabie is a New York based company, whose servers are housed in the United States. All personal information we collect from our international Users is transferred to the United States and processed according to US law.
Irrespective of which country you reside in or supply information from, you authorize Amabie to use your information in the United States, Taiwan and any other location where Amabie operates.
Any questions or concerns regarding this policy should be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What Information Do We Collect and How Do We Use It?
We collect the information described in this section to provide our Services to you and make them better, develop updates, and protect Amabie and our Users. We also use the information we collect to offer you customized content, such as suggested products or beauty reviews, or relevant advertising, provide you with activity updates involving you and allow you to more easily find your friends. When you use our Services, you allow us to collect or agree to provide us with certain information, such as described below:
In order to communicate while using our Services, post a beauty review or receive beauty product suggestions, you must register for an account. This shall include your name, email address you used to register, profile picture, birthdate, location, and any other information you provide us. By having an account, you are joining the Amabie community, which holds you responsible for your actions when using the Services, such as receiving praise for your helpful beauty product reviews or useful beauty tips, or holding you accountable for any inappropriate content that you post. The personal information that you provide to us may reveal or allow others to identify aspects of your life that are not expressly stated on your profile (for example, your picture). You understand that, by creating an account and filling out information on your profile, Users (as well as Amabie) will be able to identify you by your Amabie profile. Users can search for you by your Username or your registered email address.
You also may give us permission to access your information in other services. For example, you may link your other social media accounts (such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.) to Amabie, which allows us to obtain information from those accounts (such as your friends or contacts). The information we get from those services often depends on your settings or their privacy policies so please check those policies as well.
A publicly accessible area is any area of Amabie that is accessible by the general public and may be indexed by search engines. Please be aware that all beauty reviews, questions, answers, User profiles, and the beauty forum comments are all publicly accessible areas so that when you post content to these areas, your content, including your Username as the contributor, may be displayed in search engine results. You should exercise caution if you choose to disclose personally identifiable information in a publicly accessible area, such as your profile. Remember that this information may remain indefinitely in the publicly accessible area of the Service. You are solely responsible for any information that you disclose and disseminate on publicly accessible areas.
We may collect all information that you contribute or upload to the Amabie websites, including beauty reviews, questions, answers, forum comments, beauty tips, photos, comments, finding beauty reviews “helpful” or beauty tips “useful”, wishlists, and account profile. We may display this information publicly through the Amabie websites, use it to enhance the Amabie experience (including allowing for you to have more personalized recommendations with respect to products that showcases on the websites), and share it with third party partners.
If you have a concern about any personally identifiable information you have posted on any publicly accessible areas, please contact email@example.com immediately.
You can invite your friends to join Amabie by providing us with their contact information, or by allowing us to access your contacts from your computer, mobile device, or third party sites to select which friends you want to invite.
You acknowledge that by using Amabie services, such as “Invite Friends,” “Recommend to a Friend” and “Share my Wishlist,” you may be sending this invitation outside of our website to that person by providing their email address. This message is not a spam message from Amabie since it is User-generated even though the invitation will come from our website. Also note by sending it to this User, you are sharing their contact information with us. For example, if you choose to invite someone to the Service through our "Invite friends" feature, you may select a person directly from the contacts list on your device and send an email. You also understand and agree that you are responsible for any charges that apply to communications sent from your device, and because this invitation is coming directly from you, we do not have access to or control this communication.
We may collect any communications that you make using the websites directed either to Amabie, the general public, or to other Users, including all beauty review posts, all comments, messages and compliments (such as “helpful” and “useful”). When you sign up for an account or use certain features, you are opting to receive messages from other Amabie Users, businesses, and Amabie itself. We can communicate with you messaging, email, and other ways available to us. We may send you messages relating to the availability of the Services, security, or other service-related issues. We may also send you marketing communication. You can manage some of your messaging preferences (in Privacy Options) but note that you cannot opt out of receiving certain administrative, transactional, or legal messages from Amabie.
We may also track your actions in response to the messages you receive from Amabie such as whether you deleted, opened, or forwarded such messages. If you exchange messages with others using Amabie, we may store them in order to process and deliver them. Note that we may also collect information that other people provide when they use our Services, including information about you, such as when they send you messages, mention you, or share and send you beauty product recommendations.
Amabie may not deliver messages that we believe to be objectionable, including spam messages, requests to exchange reviews for compensation, or other harmful speech.
Note that if you contact us (even if you are not a registered User), we may keep your message, email address and contact information so we can respond to your request.
We use third-party analytics tools to help us measure traffic and usage trends for the Service. These tools collect information sent by your device or our Service, including the web pages you visit, add-ons, and other information that assists us in improving the Service. We collect and use this analytics information with analytics information from other Users so that it cannot reasonably be used to identify any particular individual User. If you are logged in as a registered User when you visit sites with our plugins, we use this information to recommend tailored content to you.
Third-party ad partners may share information with us, like a browser cookie ID, website URL visited, mobile device ID, or cryptographic hash of a common account identifier (such as an email address), to help us measure and tailor ads. For example, this allows us to display ads about things you may have already shown interest in off of our Services. Further, we allow third parties to look-up profile information using your email address or Username.
When you visit or leave our Services by clicking a hyperlink or when you view a third-party site that includes our plugin or cookies (or similar technology), we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came or the one to which you are directed. We also receive the internet protocol (“IP”) address of your computer or the proxy server that you use to access the web, your computer operating system details, your type of web browser, your mobile device (including your mobile device identifier provided by your mobile device operating system), your mobile operating system (if you are accessing Amabie using a mobile device), and the name of your ISP or your mobile carrier. We may also receive location data passed to us from third-party services or GPS-enabled devices that you have set up. Most mobile devices allow you to prevent real time location data being sent to us, and of course we will honor your settings.
Also, if you opt to bind any Service account to a third party social media service (including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or other similar service), you can share content from our Services to these third party, in accordance with your account settings (which you may change at any time) and respective policies of these third parties. Note that we allow the option to share and we will never post on your behalf without your prior authorization.
Online advertisers typically share information with the websites or apps where they run ads to measure and/or improve those ads. We also receive this information, which may include information like whether clicks on ads led to purchases or a list of criteria to use in targeting ads.
We may collect information about your use of the Services, such as your search activity, account sign up, content that you provide, shares, the pages viewed, the date, duration, and time of visits, and transactions or other activities initiated through the websites. This technical information that may be collected includes:
Log data: We receive Log Data when you interact with our Services, for example, when you visit our websites, sign into our Services, interact with our email notifications, use your account to authenticate to a third-party website or application, or visit a third-party website that includes an Amabie button or widget. Log data are records of activity created by the computer that delivers the webpages you request to your browser. For example, log data may record the search term you entered or the link you clicked to bring you the webpage. This Log Data may include your Internet Protocol address, the address of the web pages you visited that had Amabie features, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, how you used Amabie, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device information (including device and application IDs), search terms and cookie data. We use Log Data to provide, understand, and improve our Services, to make inferences, like what topics you may be interested in, and to customize the content we show you, including ads.
Cookie data: A cookie is a file containing an identifier (a string of letters and numbers) that is sent by a web server to a web browser and is stored by the browser. The identifier is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. Cookies do not typically contain any information that personally identifies a User, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.
In addition to the information above, we also use flash cookies, web beacons, metadata, and advertising technologies to automatically collect information about your activities and interests on and off our websites, to improve our services, increase security measures as well as show you content and advertising that’s most relevant to you.
Flash cookies (also called Local Shared Objects or “LSOs”) are data files similar to cookies, except that they can store more complex data. Flash cookies are used to remember settings, preferences, and usage, and other similar services.
Web beacons are small graphic images on a Web page or in an e-mail that can be used for such things as recording the pages and advertisements clicked on by Users, or tracking the performance of e-mail marketing campaigns.
Geo-location technology refers to technologies that permit us to determine your location. We may ask you to manually provide location information on our website, or to enable your mobile device to send us precise location information. We may also automatically collect general location information from your web browser.
Metadata is usually technical data that is associated with User Content. For example, Metadata can describe how, when and by whom a piece of User Content was collected and how that content is formatted. Users can add or may have Metadata added to their User Content including a hashtag (e.g., to mark keywords when you post a photo), geotag (e.g., to mark your location to a photo), comments or other data. This makes your User Content more searchable by others and more interactive. If you geotag your photo or tag your photo using other's APIs then, your latitude and longitude will be stored with the photo and searchable (e.g., through a location or map feature) if your photo is made public by you in accordance with your privacy settings.

Please note that if you interact with Facebook, Google, Twitter, or other third party icons through the Service, including "Like," "Share," or similar buttons, those companies may collect information about you, such as your device’s IP address, and they may post about you, such as when you “Like” something on their website. Your interactions with these and other third parties are governed by the third parties’ privacy policies.
We do not share any of your personal information with advertisers or with third parties for direct marketing.
We may display targeted advertisements based on anonymized or pseudonymized data and information, and we may also display targeted advertisements based on personally identifiable information. By interacting with or viewing an ad you are consenting to the possibility that the advertiser will make the assumption that you meet the targeting criteria used to display the ad.
We will allow third party companies that show advertisements on some of our pages to set and access their cookies on your computer. Other companies' use of their cookies and device identifiers is subject to their own privacy policies. Advertisers or other companies do not have access to Amabie cookies. You can also ask us for additional information we may have about your account. Other Users may be able to identify you, or associate you with your account, if you include personal information in the content you post publicly. You can reduce the risk of being personally identified by using the Service pseudonymously, though doing so could detract from the credibility of your contributions to the Services.

You can remove content that you posted on a public space by e-mailing details to email@example.com. Note that we will endeavor to honor your request to remove information, however, our removal of your information does not completely erase that information from the internet. For example, historical copies, or “caches,” may remain.

For example, private display means the public cannot see a selected option, such as your specific hair-type, of your personal profile. If you choose public, then reviewers would be able to see what type of hair you have. Note the publicly displayed information can be very helpful to other reviewers as they may be able to relate to you and help them make an informed decision on a product.

There are also no options for privacy for last name or email address as those will remain private, unless you choose to publicly display them.
E-mail Communications: To help us make e-mails more useful and interesting, we often receive a confirmation when you open e-mail from Amabie if your computer supports such capabilities. If you do not want to receive e-mail or other mail from us, please adjust your Email Options. New categories of marketing communications might be added to the Marketing Preferences page from time to time. Users who visit this page can opt out of receiving future marketing communications from these new categories or they can unsubscribe by following instructions contained in the messages they receive. For example, if you send a message to another User, that User may choose to publicly post it. Also, Amabie may access and disclose such messages in the course of investigations relating to use of the Services and to detect spam messages, harassment and/or any other wrongdoings or illegal activities. If you are being harassed or irritated in any manner through the messaging system by another User, please block that User and/or contact us at email@example.com.
